Mowanjum Community children and youth are always keen to participate in creative activities, working on their own paintings, participating in workshops or witnessing the work of senior Mowanjum artists. They are encouraged to engage with a variety of resources and materials, from crushing traditional ochres, drawing with inks on paper to recording activities using cameras from the media space.

Many Mowanjum youth also participate in learning Junba songs and dances, accompany elders on harvesting and bush trips, assist in the preparations for the annual Mowanjum Festival and are an important part of the Mowanjum Festival.

We engage and collaborate with World Vision and the Derby Schools to give Mowanjum children as early as possible the chance to learn more about their culture and their family artistry and we like to introduce other kids to Mowanjum arts and culture.
